I must have a death wish

Well, not so much a death wish as a "be sore", "why did I do that" wish.

Today's planned workout was BumBum (a cardio lower body 30 minute workout) from Brazillian Butt lift AND Lower Body from TurboFire (a 20 minute workout)

Imagine Jim Carey saying, "Owwwiieeeeeee"

AND....I have mapped out my workouts for the next week and a few post ideas I have

Workouts:
Monday: BumBum (BBL) Lower 20 (TurboFire)
Tuesday: Hiit 15 (TurboFire) Sculpt (BBL)
Wednesday: Tummy Tuck, High and Tight (both BBL)
Thursday: Fire 30
Friday: Fire 55 EZ
Saturday: BumBum, High and Tight (both BBL)
Sunday: Stretch 40, Abs 10 (TurboFire)

Obviously I completed Monday (today's) workout. I like Brazillian Butt Lift, I can tell it is working, but some of the moves I just can't keep up with. TurboFire is also fast paced and dancy, but there is a breakdown you can watch until you catch on. I feel like I've just been thrown into a dance routine that everyone knows but me.

On a side note, my butt really hurts.

Besides the regular old boring "I hurt today" workout updates, I have a few posts planned for later. Things I love, Ideas I have, Things I've been trying to be healthier.

Such As,

Foam Rollers
Green Tea Powders
Quick Healthy Yummy Pasta
Healthy Versions of Fall Recipes

I still have two kids and homework to do-but I will try to keep up {even though I am almost positive, nobody is actually reading this :) }

Workout Update

I am on week one of my Brazil Butt Lift (BBL) TurboFire hybrid and I have done what many of us do all the time.

I slacked.

I have had this dang cold off and on for almost two weeks. One day my throat hurts, the next day I feel fine, the next day I can't breath out of my nose, the next day I am coughing up a storm. I was still exercising but I was wheezing through the routines and not finishing the enitre DVD. Not to mention my body feels like I was hit by a bus (especially my chest/back).

TMI alert! Yesterday, I coughed up blood. Gross. Thankfully, I feel a little better today.

I've been drinking emergen-c, green tea, and my Shakeology which is full of other healthy crud every day.

Decided to start the week over on Monday and just do Yoga and Stretching until this cough goes away at least. ((Bummed))

The good about this whole week of wasteful sickness is that I have some new insight into the BBL DVDs that have arrived!

First of all, I was WRONG! Cardio Axe is NOT the only cardio DVD included. Bum Bum will get your heart going. It's quick movement lower body work, and trust me, I was sweating!

I also did Tummy Tuck, and was sore in my abs for THREE DAYS afterwards. DANG! I'm one of those people who don't usually get sore so for me I thought this was awesome! Obviously my baby-growing muscles need reconditioned and I know tummy tuck will do the job.

The last DVD I have done so far is High and Tight. H&T is broken into three segments. Standing band work, floor band work, floor work with ankle weights. It's all booty focus. Again here being completely honest, I did not care for the standing band work. In fact, I found myself jumping around randomly during certain portions because I was unable to coordinate my feet to move that way, that fast.

The floor work, both with the bands and the ankle weights, is AWESOME! My butt hurt the next day for sure (not the way my abs did but still any soreness is a good feeling)

What Else?

I gathered from the cardio I have done that I probably won't be one of those people who loves Cardio Axe. Not because anything is wrong with Leandro and BBL, but I have already found deep cardio love with running, and second to that, TurboFire.

The results of this week, although I only lost one pound (probably a pound of snot haha) were a more enlightened view of my next program. I have decided to do less of a hybrid with BBL, and more of a supplemental kinda thing. I love TurboFire and, confession time, have actually never completed the entire program!

So over the weekend, I plan on working out by doing stretching and resting so I can finally KICK some cold/cough/virus BOOTAY!

I should also make some kind of schedule that follows the basic TurboFire schedule and adds Brazillian Butt Lift in a way that won't wear me out or cause a 3 hour workout session! I'll be posting that hopefully before I begin on Monday!

In the way of food, I'll be getting some new fruits and veggies and chopping them up and if it stops raining here, marinate and grill up some chicken for quick eats during the week! Maybe do my online homework. Meh. Who needs math anyways?!

Grocery List

These are a few items that are always on my grocery list I thought I would share!

  • Starbucks Iced Via
  • Dark Chocolate Almond Milk, Vanilla Almond Milk
  • Brocoli Slaw
  • Morningstar Veggie Spicy Black Bean Burger
  • Popped Rice Cake Chips (the mixed bag with sweet and savory)
  • Fiber One 90 calorie brownies/coffee cakes
  • Sun Dried Tomato Turkey from the Deli
  • Thin sliced provolone from the deli
  • Marscapone (to use instead of butter)
  • Oroweat Health Nut Bread
  • Smart Taste Spaghetti Noodles
  • Light Alfredo sauce
  • Organic Tomato Sauce
  • Tyson frozen chicken breast (both uncooked and pre-cooked)
  • McCormicks Grill Mates for marinating
  • Fresh Fruit
  • Light and Fit Greek Yogurt
  • Red and Orange Peppers
  • String Cheese
  • Special K cereal with protein
  • Cottage Cheese
  • Instant Oatmeal Mix
  • Jasmine Rice for a rice cooker
  • Uncle Ben's 90 Second Ready Rice
  • Avocados
These are mostly handy, fast things to eat. My husband and I marinate and grill probably two bags of frozen chicken twice a week, and then eat it throughout the week. He cuts it up and puts it in pasta with different vegetables and sauces. It makes dinner making go by much, much faster. I like to eat a sandwich for lunch almost every day. If I feel like it's a little more unhealthy, I only eat one piece of bread. I love Oroweat Health Nut bread over any of the low calories bread because I don't like eating and feeling empty afterwards. It's nutty and filling and soft AND healthy. Perfect! I also like to overload my sandwich with broccoli slaw instead of lettuce (or tomatoes, I hate tomatoes)

Another good fast healthy lunch, is a bowl with 3/4 or so cup of rice, half of an avocado, cut up tyson grilled frozen chicken, and soy sauce. That is always a go-to for me when I don't have time to think of a nice healthy meal for myself, and my daughter eats it too!

When it comes to fruits and veggies, when we buy them we cut them up into snack portions the same day. We saute the broccoli slaw onions and peppers into almost every dinner so when we get those, we cut them up into pieces and freeze them so they are ready to go. I always am saying I don't diet, because you can't deprive yourself. If you want something, eat it! Try to eat a smaller serving of it. It's a lifestyle change. You want to be able to eat like this for the rest of your life and be satisfied. We won't always have the metabolism of our teenage selves, we need to stop eating like it!

Future of A Fat Mommy

Soooo I got my Brazil Butt Lift in the mail yesterday and I am excited to say the least.

When I get a chance I'll post more about what was in the package and details of each DVD in my next post!
I was planning on following the "Pear Shape" schedule. However, I find it a bit dissapointing that it is only one month long. SO I've been wanting to restart turbofire for awhile now and here comes an opportunity.

Hybrid!! What?! What!?

Here is the Pear Schedule:

Week One:

Tuesday: Cardio Axe, Tummy Tuck

Sunday: OFF

Week Two:

T-Sculpy
F-Cardio Axe, High and Tight
S-Bum Bum, Sculpt
S-Rest

The Ennnnd.

First thing I noticed was there is only one "Cardio" DVD that get's repeated. I don't think there is nearly enough in there to be burning off the jiggly wiggly I have. Second thing, is that most of these workouts are more for building muscle than targeting your heart rate. Not a bad thing at all (as you can see from my review of Chalean) but I do want to mix it up!

Here is my Hybrid. I mixed the two schedules and got a few ideas from another blogger :)
**I'm not a fan of TurboFire's Core 20 so you won't see that on my schedule at all, just Tummy Tuck
ALSO
I always always schedule my day off as Sunday. Its a day with my husband and kids to sit and relax, plus, Dexter and Football is on. ;)

Week One:
Monday- Fire 30, Tummy Tuck
Tuesday-Hiit 15, Bum Bum
Wednesday-Fire 55 EZ (abs 10 if I feel amazing when I'm done)
Thursday-Fire 30, Bum Bum
Friday- High and Tight, Tummy Tuck
Saturday- Fire 30, Bum Bum
Sunday-OFF

This may seem like a ton of work, but I tried to make it so my workout is an hour or less so I think that should work well. If I burn out too fast I will adjust as needed.

Cookies

I have been feeling under the weather lately. I don't have any workout or stat updates but I did want to post this recipe for a healthy version of no bake cookies I have been using lately. They are super delicious especially if you put them in the refrigerator. Extra bonus, they are super quick and easy to make.

You Need:

1/2 cup of healthy peanut butter or almond butter (you can use natural, I don't because natural peanut butter gags me)

1/2 cup of nutella

1 and 1/2 cups of quick cook oats (the recipe I found only uses 1 cup, but I like my cookies a little more on the dry side so I added more)

1 cup of special dark hersheys pure cocoa powder (you can substitute chocolate shakeology if you want to make them extra powerful)

1/3 cup light agave or honey

1 ripe banana

Nuts if you like nuts

Directions:Mix, mash, stir until well blended. Roll up into little balls. If you like nuts, you can roll the outside of them in crushed nuts. Throw into a ziplock. Place in refrigerator.

Enjoy!

Shakeology

Is expensive. Let's go ahead and get that Elephant out of the room. Why in holy moly does this cost so freaking much? Why am I paying this ridiculous as poo price for it now?

Let's Review!

I never ever would have bought an ENTIRE bag of shakeology if I hadn't tried a sample first. I got a sample from my beachbody coach Laura Diaz. I was interested in what all the hype was and I was only spending $5 to try. So why not?

I started with Chocolate Shakeology.

Let's start with the taste. When I opened it up, I immediately thought of a crushed up vitamin. It smelled gross. I didn't have any ice to blend it with so I mixed a Starbucks instant coffee and some peanut butter in a blender bottle with almond milk, and chugged. It didn't taste great. I wasn't immediately addicted because it was so delicious. It wasn't so gross that I spit it out and refused to ever drink it again.

Let me say since then, I have tried the vanilla. It tastes like a sugar cookie. It is the best tasting shake I have had in a long, long time.

Claims of Energy: I can't really say this one way or the other because I like to mix my coffee in with it. I do feel more energetic throughout the day. But I wouldn't think of this as something to give me a boost to do some crazy workout. It's more like a long distance runner than a sprinter.

Claims of Weight Loss: I did not exercise while taking shakeology because I wanted to see if I would lose weight using it. I lost 3 pounds in the course of about a week and a half. So you can say this is true.

Claims of Cravings Control: This is what I wanted the most out of the shakes. I have zero self control when it comes to sweets. Ice cream, brownies, cookies. I eat one you can bet I'm going to eat at least half of the container. Seriously, I don't understand why or how I do it. Back to the review. That day, I had ice cream in the freezer, and cookies in my pantry. I still had cookies and ice cream the next day. I didn't touch either of them. I didn't crave either one. I was offered ice cream and (deep breath) I TURNED IT DOWN. Whaaaa?

Probiotics and Prebiotics: I was already taking these beforehand, but there is good news here. I pay about 20 dollars a month for probiotics and 12 a month for prebiotics. Since they are included in the shake I won't have to pay for those anymore

Appetite Control: This is a big bonus. Not only does this help with cravings, it supresses your appetite. Not destroys it, but it helps me all day with portion control. I don't feel like I need an extra large serving, or seconds. I eat what a healthy portion of food should be, and I'm done. I'm full and satisfied. This is all without jitters, shakes, or stomach aches. I think that's awesome!

Anything Else: Ohhhkay here's the part that nobody else talks about. At least not that I've read. When you first start out...You will fart. And it will smell like the most awful farts you have ever, ever farted. I mean my husband followed me around with a bottle of febreze. They were nasty, but after a few days it stopped and I smell like a normal person now! Hooray!

Back to the Price: For coaches (like me) the price is 97.50 a month. I don't have a coaches fee because I am a military spouse. Subtracting the 32.00 I spend on probiotics and prebiotics, it gets lowered down to 65.50. That is still quite pricey. However, I don't crave fastfood or junkfood at all so I am thinking I will save there.

Conclusion: If you need energy, buy a coffee, or 5 hour energy. If you need a way to cram in vitamins, probiotics, prebiotics into one meal consider shakeology. If you have the means, and have no self control with cravings or you feel hungry all the time, please give shakeology a chance! (Start with Vanilla!)

My 90 Day Chalean Extreme Review

Okay. I am going to be honest. I am a beachbody coach. But please don't let that deter you from believing me. It is free for me to be a coach (military), and I signed up for the discount. I'm not after your money. Although if you have extra, you can send it to 16...I kid!!

If you want me to be your coach, I will gladly help you. I don't care if you got your DVDs from craigslist, ebay, your sister, or me. I want to help you!! No payment necessary!

Onto the Review....

The food guide. Honestly, I hardly ever use these. I take the basics from them, and go off on my own. The food they put in these things, I'm sure is healthy and delicious and bla bla bla. I don't have time to make myself a goat cheese and fancy pants egg white omelet. Even if I did, nobody else in my family would eat it and it would probably leave me hungry. Sorry Chalean, I am just really not a big fan of this.

The best food guide I have ever seen came from the TurboFire dvd set. I don't even have it anymore but it is all about PORTION people. Half of your plate should be fruits and veggies for every meal. HALF! You need a snack? Fruit or Veggie.  You don't stuff your face with brownies. Making pasta? Use the light sauce, lean meats, and cut back on your serving of noodles. While your at it mix in some broccoli slaw, don't get seconds.

Something else crucial to know is your water intake. You need to drink half of your body weight in ounces every day. More if you exercise. This will help with your hunger pangs, and as research has shown over and over again, a whole lot more. Energy, stamina, headaches, skin tone, cancer prevention. Do you still need more convincing?

The exercise guide. Besides having the calendar inside this guide has some interesting information it. I can't remember what it was because it was three months ago, but I remember thinking "hmmm interesting". So maybe not all that important. Also in here is your pre test. TAKE THE DANG PRETEST. I could only do one push up on my toes when I started. I can do so many more now. The pre test is an awesome way to gauge your FITNESS gains. Not weight, or body fat, or inches. This will basically show you how freaking awesome you have become. So do it.

Chalean Extreme Day One-

This is me. Pretty, I know. I'm in my underwear because at this size, I don't have a bathing suit that covers me. So I have to apologize for that.

Day One starts the first month with the Burn Phase. You lift heavy weights slowly, for about 12 reps (you want to fail at 12 but not before 10), 3 days a week, with two days of cardio, and two days of rest. At first this was hard for me, but as a fat person I was glad the cardio portion was only two days a week. Huffing and puffing isn't something I enjoy.

As for the cardio. I must say I'm not a huge fan. The music isn't great, and after doing turbofire, I kind of expected it to be more fun. It's basically 45 minutes or so of intense drills followed by a slower paced weight lifting or cardio exercise. It was hard, and I didn't have fun. So I dreaded those days and sometimes skipped them all together.

Does it work? Heck yes! Will your results be better if you push through? Of course! In fact, if I drank coffee and played my music over the crappy music I got through it and felt awesome after. I could always tell a difference when I was done with a week I had actually done the cardio, compared to weeks I didn't. I recommend getting the extra set of DVDs, I liked the other extra cardio DVDs much more than the one that come with the basic set.

So I'm kind of torn here. You win some you lose some.

At the end of month one...I saw great results. I felt stronger, I had more energy, I had lost weight. I was still doing push ups on my knees, but I could tell I had come far.

Month Two- Push

What is different about month two is you focus on one muscle group at a time and you lift, super, extra-duty, heavy, heavy weights. This time you try to "fail" by your 8th rep. I saw serious gains in my biceps and triceps. I hated the deltoids (small muscles in your shoulders) routine because I'm weak there, and it was especially difficult for me to get through. However, I noticed my posture improving which is a HUGE bonus. I knew the muscles between my shoulder blades were weak from hunching, and by making them stronger I stood taller and stopped worrying so much that I would end up one of those old ladies with the hunch back. (shivers) Same routine basically weekly. Three days of lifting, two of cardio, two of rest.

Month Three- Lean

By the end of month two I felt freakishly strong and generally awesome. So it surprised the poo out of me when I put in my first Lean DVD and felt seriously challenged. Sounds like a bad thing, but I was actually pleasantly surprised! There was enough of a change that I still felt challenged, but I could still sense the gains I was making. For example, I did ALL the push ups on my toes!!!!! BOOOOOOOOM!! haha!! At this point I was getting tired of the same ol cardio routine so I turned to some of my turbofire DVDs for help. When I started doing the cardio again my results SKYROCKETED!

The Final Results:

I lost my measurements after they were destroyed in a freak crayon accident, but I lost 20 pounds, and gained muscle, and more importantly, CONFIDENCE!

Overall: I love this. If you hate cardio this is for you. If you love cardio, but don't ever lift weights, this is for you. I can't think of a single person that this program wouldn't help. Maybe, if you like being a weakling? Well, this is not for you! If you have any questions please comment I will do my best to answer them!!

If you have decided to commit here is a link to my site, where you can purchase and I will automatically become your coach! It is more expensive to buy through Beachbody than some other places, but if you have kids that play with your DVDs or intend on doing this set of DVDs over again, I would recommend buying through Beachbody. They will replace your discs for any reason. I called the other day and had 3 replaced because my two year old minion wanted to play frisbee, and my disc wouldn't stop skipping. Weigh your options and do what's best for you financially!

Goals

Everyone should have goals. So says my BFF Chalene Johnson-Creator of Chalean Extreme, TurboFire, TurboJam, Motivational speaker, and generally awesome person :)

Not only should you have goals, you should write them down. So here are mine.

1. Make an example for my children. (Eat healthy, Live active lifestyle, etc) I want my kids to grow up and play outside and not have to worry about their weight the way I did when I was a teenager. I want it to come naturally to them to eat healthy.

2. Run a Marathon. I love running, Go big or Go home right?!

3. Stick to it. I have motivation/dedication problems. I have started and stopped doing things (exercise, organization, projects, etc.) so many times, it's ridiculous.

4. Build Confidence. I almost never wear shorts because my legs gain fat before the rest of my body. I used to never take pictures of myself because I thought I was ugly. Once again, I need to work on that for my girls.

5. Transform into a person who eats healthy naturally. I suck at this. Really suck. My idea of a healthy diet was coffee and cookies for breakfast, no lunch, and a heaping helping of whatever for dinner, followed by an even bigger portion of dessert.

My parents weren't a good example growing up. My mom drinks diet soda and nothing else (no water, lemonade, milk) and eats sugared, breaded, anything. My dad is a meat and potatoes man. He used to weigh somewhere around the 300 range until he used that Atkins diet to lose. We loving now refer to it as "dadkins"

What are you're goals? If you have any good ones, I may steal them and make them my own!

Welcome Fat Ladies!

Why are you here? Chances are if you have stumbled upon this blog, you need to lose weight, you need a break from your crazy chaotic house, or you need to lock your children in a closet and cry and eat brownies. If you are a parent, you have most likely been here.

About me. I am a momma of two little girls. By little, I mean very little. Two and 6 months. I stay at home with them during the day and most days, I love it. Most days.

Pre-child, I weighed 115 pounds at 5 feet 4. I could run 10 miles like it was no big deal, and I ate whatever the hell I wanted to. Especially pasta. Mmmmm.....pasta.

This is one of the few pictures I can find from that time. What's sad is that I had such low self esteem that I HATED being in pictures. At 115 pounds. What was wrong with me?

Now I weigh 137 pounds, get winded jogging 30 feet (although it's getting better!), and survive on coffee and whatever I can shove in my face quickly.

What happened?!

I gained 60 pounds with my first. Yea, you are right, that's almost twice the recommend "high" of pregnancy weight gain. I was sick, and tired, and all I could eat is cereal.

I worked out some, but mostly I put on workout clothes and tennis shoes and walked around the house avoiding working out. I lost all but 5-10 pounds of it before I got pregnant with baby 2.

With my second...I gained 80 friggin' pounds. YEEEESH. I gained a medium-sized elementary school child. I'm not exaggerating. I wish I was. You know how they say pregnant women glow, and you see all those supermodels and celebrities cradling their little bump over their toothpick sized legs? ----Not me. I look more like that green ghost with all the chins on the movie Ghostbusters that is always caught stuffing it's face. I hate being pregnant. But that's a whole other story.

So far I am about 17 pounds away from my goal! Which means I have lost 63 pounds. Sixty. Three. Pounds. Wow. That's amazing.

Keep in mind folks, this isn't the kind of pounds you lose from laying off the soda, and walking around your neighborhood once a week.  These are "don't even look at brownies, sweat, heart pounding" kind of pounds that I lost.

I started with eating healthier, and progressed onto eating healthier AND using the program Chalean Extreme. My before, progress, and after pictures are below for that. I'll write posts about both of these later. Don't you worry about googling and searching to find out what I am talking about. I will explain, give me a chance! (Remember, I have two kids, it takes a little bit for me to be able to sit down and write out anything that makes sense)

Next up for me is Brazil Butt Lift. I'll post a picture of my big ugly butt when it arrives. You will see why I chose this program next :)

So here you are, here I am. I've lost weight and have more to lose. Maybe you do too, maybe you just want to be in better shape. So join me, or maybe just read on and think about joining me.

Either way, welcome to my journey!
